LaRue Tactical A-PEG™
Initially designed with the precision shooter in mind, the folks at LaRue Tactical queried trusted individuals in the precision shooting community what they would prefer in a grip. The result is the LaRue A-PEG™. The project grew into an accessory that featured ambidextrous geometry that can be used by all shooters, enchaining control of AR15-type weapons. The A-PEG™ is available in two sizes; Regular (for 5.56 receivers) and Extended (for 7.62 receivers). The Extended version fills the “gap” in AR10-platform receivers.

Inspired by the human hand, the unique “flats” on the front and back fall more naturally onto the geometry of the hand’s structure. The flat front also provides indexing to help level and square the firearm to the target. A sculptured palm swell on either side fits nicely into the hollows of the palm. A gentle taper helps seat the hand towards the firearm, and helps to keep the hand from sliding. The generous texture added to the sides gives just the right amount of traction in slippery conditions.

Having an A2 footprint, the A-PEG™ will attach to almost any firearm that has an AR15-type grip interface. Comes complete with mounting hardware.

Specifications:
Length: 4.0” (Extended version is 4.25”)
Length added to firearm: 3.1”
Width: 1.8”
Weight: 4.2 oz.
Materials: Glass-filled polymer.
Colors: Black

Models Available:
Regular (for 5.56 receivers) and Extended (for 7.62 receivers), smooth or rough textured.

This grip is a game changer. I had a Magpul MIAD and didn't want to change grips if the difference wasnt going to be worth it but it was. What makes it a justified investment is that it is indeed a superior improvement over the BCMs and Magpuls. If a sniper rifle grip and assault grip had sex, the babies would be the LaRue APEG. I also like how it puts the length of pull rearward so instead of the crease in your finger hitting the trigger, it is the pad. So you no longer have to force the pad of your finger on the trigger, everything feels way more natural.

Excellent product, purchased after handling/considering most other popular brands and was concerned about not having had an opportunity to feel this one prior to purchase. Took a chance based on the positive feedback and well thought out design, ultimately could not be more pleased. All the comments are right on, looks, feel, comfort and performance in a very high quality product.

Great grip! I have about every grip on the market, some I love, some I hate, and some are just so-so. The A-PEG, is one I love! Works very well with my SPR clone and my large hands. Texture is just rough enough to maintain a proper grip without tearing up your hands when used all day. Only complaiant is the FDE color is a little light, it doesn't match my VLTOR or Magpul plastic parts.

I now own a total of 4 A-PEGs... 2 black, and 2 FDE... All "Rough" textured. Before owning an A-PEG, I used the Magpul MIAD grip on my rifles. Decided to try the A-PEG based solely on looks... Damn once I got one in my hand, I was sold, and have used one ever since!!! I use them on both "combat" style fighting rifles, and precision based rigs... It's very very comfortable, and the "rough" texture is perfect, even with bare hands. The texture is in all the right spots, and smooth in the sensitive areas of the hand. Perfection, and will definitely order more for future builds! -Chris- From WI

Best grip on the market by far. I have used every grip on the planet, and this is THE ONE I have now put on all of my rifles. The version designed for the AR10 based rifles fits perfect with no filler peice, (which IMHO had always looked like a lame after thought). I had an ergo on my 7.62 OBR and this has now replaced it. I purchased the rough texture and it is perfect. I also have a "smooth" version that my Predatar shipped with and it is pretty grippy as well. The fit and finish is absolutely perfect, with nice finished edges and an amazing fit. The palm swell does an amazing job for both large and small hands. The design looks as if storage could be utilized by adding a type of plug or cap on the bottom in the future. I personally think it is perfect the way it stands. Thanks Larue for another well designed, and amazingly constructed piece of equipment for my rifles.

I personally would like it rougher, but it works just fine for my needs. I'd definitely buy again for a precision style build, but not for a defense style rifle.

I purchased this grip based on the feedback from these other Reviews, and I agree the Quality of this product is second to NONE. It dropped in without a Hint of undo effort. However despite what a few have said, it is NOT meant for large hands. I would say my hands are just "average" large (not freakish large), and the grip just doesn't fit right, I want it to, I Really do, it's exactly what I've been looking for, it's quite a bit smaller then I thought it would be, and isn't comfortable at all. I Hate to say it. but the grips coming off without a round downrange. I give this grip a high rating though because it's VERY high quality, and it's clear it would be a phenomenal grip for Med hands. I just received my grip yesterday and immediately istalled it on my AR 6.8 SPC. I purcased the rough grip. I can say that I agree with previous reviews that say this is the best grip on the market. do not have large hands and it places the trigger finger on the trigger at the center of the first digit. Perfect placement. I plan on going to the range tomorrow, snow or shine to get a better feel of the grip during fire. If you decide to buy this grip you will not be sorry. Great product from LaRue.

Gotta give ML and the folks at LT credit where it is due. Yet another fine solution for the AR platforms. Ordered several for customers and decided, after seeing and handling them, to order one for my own 7.62 OBR and also for my 5.56 OBR. After shooting both rifles I was impressed with these grips. It's worth mentioning I have tried damn near every variety of after market grip for the AR that has come out over the last 15+ years. There are many that suck and actually do nothing to increase your grip, nor comfort. This grip is the real deal and does what LT states, improves ergonomic comfort, increases grip with their textured surface on the sides only. The smooth front and rear makes a huge difference in how the rifle handles, yet the sides lock in your grip, with or without gloves. I got the rough grip for my 7.62 and the smooth (slightly less rough, it ain't smooth...) for my 5.56. Before any of ya'll goober smoocher's whine about how harsh the texture may be for your thin skinned palms and feel either grip is too harsh for you, sack up and just hit the grip texture with some 200 or 400 grit sand paper and that'll fix it. ML and LT folks, ya'll did a hell of a job on this grip, nice work.

Also the FDE color matches great with my FDE magpul str stock and afg and I agree with other reviews about it fitting tight, but I'd rather it be a little too tight than loose. There is no play or wiggle after installed properly. Try it out!!

The grip kept my wrist straight allowing me to stay comfortable with the rifle in and out my shoulder, without any cramps, and most of us know that being comfortable is key to being accurate. having been in the Infantry for 5 years and owning several AR's of my own i have had the chance to try many different types of pistol grips from fancy sniper grips to standard grips and everything in-between. I've had a couple other grips on my M4, but the A-Peg Grip has a great contoured feel to my hand. The rough texture feels really good and is comparable to that of Glock Gen 4 pistol grip textures. Extremely helpful in the heat when hands get sweaty and gloves aren't available. The palm swell and flat sides on the front and back are perfect for my medium-sized grip. The A-PEG Grip is the best grip I have ever owned, after trying grips by Ergo, Stark, DPMS, and Magpul. The fit was perfect and the hex-head screw made installation so much easier than with a flat-head. The grip itself is at least twice as thick as other polymer ones and probably twice as strong. I use the APEG on a DPMS 20" A-15, which weighs about 10 pounds and I can pick up the gun one handed without any kind of shift or bending. I have medium-small hands and my father has very large hands and the contour fits both of our palms like a glove. It is rounded where it needs to be and flat near the web of the hand where it makes the most sense. Rough texture is not too rough and it's almost as if it's glued to your hand when you hold it. At around $20 it's also one of the more affordable grips. This was my first purchase from Larue and after seeing the pride this company takes in their products and the intelligence gone into the design, I will definitely buy this again. Use at least one of these if you are proud to be an AR owner.

I bought this for a Colt 6940. It fits a little tight upon installation. With two taps from a small mallet, it seats with no wobble at all. I have a medium sized hand and the palm swell and contours of the grip are perfect for me. A friend of mine is 6' 4" with large hands and the A-PEG fit him well, too. All in all, I'd buy another one if I had another AR. The only downside is the lack of a grip insert if you like to carry batteries or extra stuff. I don't, so it's not an issue for me.

This is a great grip. I tried many grips before I decided on The A-Peg. I thought that I'd want one of the rubber overmolded grips, but after feeling how the A-Peg fit my medium/ large hand, I was sold. I took one star off due to what may have been a slight defect. There was a small amount of extra polymer on one side of the grips "groove" that slides onto the lower receiver. At first I tried to lightly tap the grip into place, but the polymer is extremely strong and it wouldn't budge. I filed off the ridge of extra polymer and the grip then fit like a glove! Although I didn't see it noted anywhere, the extra ridge of plastic may be there to accommodate slight differences in the various makes of lower receivers. I would highly recommend this grip to anyone and plan to purchase more for future builds.

the grip is excellent once I managed to get it on. I had a few issues with installation on my standard dpms lr-308. It didn't quite fit in and I had to dremel out quite a bit of material to get it to snug up. To be honest a dremel would be an over statement. I got a metal paint can opener, heated the tip up with a propane torch till it was cherry red and delicately melted the excess plastic/polymer out of the way until the fit was perfect. Took all of 5 minutes and it snugged up perfectly. The grip is very solid now and fits my hand 300 times better than the original factory grip. FYI I had to do the same thing for the ar-15 version trying to match it up to my cmmg lower. Maybe these grips are meant for a different model of gun?

I got this grip today, after waiting for moths to come out, and it is outstanding; if it was not evident on the box I would think this was a Magpul item, very excellent quality; great fit and finish; in fact the box is the same color as a a Magpul box but the grip is a completely different animal; the only thing I can compare it to is a Miad grip with the large back strap on but it is a bit shorter and wider at the center, and I do like it more than the Miad, it really feels like a competition grip, there is no storage core but it could be easily provided in the future to hold a couple of 123A batteries, for all I know LT is already thinking about it. I could not agree more with the other reviewers here, the ergonomics are excellent, even used with the left hand, it feels the same either way; it just feels right in the hand, it is perfect. A plus 1 to LT for including a hex head screw with the grip, it makes installation super easy, and as I said before, these folks really think about everything. I got the "rough" version, and I don't think is that rough; it is rougher than a Miad grip but you soon forget about it after your hand seems to melt with the grip; I think the texture will be really helpful for traction with wet, sweaty or bloody hands (hopefully not your own blood), and very secure wearing gloves. If your hands are so delicate that you can't handle the roughness, maybe you should get out more and work with your hands instead of with the computer, or maybe just order the smooth one and wear gloves, and get a manicure before you go out and take some bad guys out, I'm just saying; but seriously, this is a very well thought out grip and I think it reflects the usual LT excellence in manufacturing, I could not be happier with it. The other reviewer said it best: LT did a hell of a job, well done; and thank you very much for the affordable price, this quality and design execution at this price is a bargain.

I have somewhat large hands, so the palm swells help the APEG feel more natural in my hand than a Magpul MOE or MIAD (plus I really don't need the internal storage feature of the MIAD, to be honest). The rough-textured version is not going to tear your bare palm to shreds, but it will stay put where you need it. Installed quickly and easily on my LaRue lower, no need for filing or Dremeling. Just to be clear, the APEG is not an overmolded soft grip. The texture is similar to stippling, but without the risk of ruining your grip with a soldering iron. I would definitely recommend this grip to anyone with large hands. I will be purchasing another for my second rifle build.

This is hands down the best darn AR15 pistol grip I've used. I've had well known grips such as Magpul and the BCM Gunfighter, but this blows em away. The Magpul had a good thickness and length and the BCM was too long for my taste. But this grip makes the magpul feel like what it is, a brick. The A-PEG just fits as if it was molded for my hand. It would be nice if the could make one with the grip angle of the BCM Gunfighter but it's not a big deal. I also love the thickness of the beavertail. Brings my whole hand back and gives me better trigger control. Thanks LaRue, you make the best ARs and accessories!

I ordered this for my Aero Precision AR10 Lower. For some reason I did not check the reviews before purchasing because Larue always gets it right. But now that I am reading the reviews here right now I am seeing that many others had the same fitting problem as I ran into. The beaver tail section of the grip just would not fit correctly and had to have about an 1/8 of an inch ground off with a dremel and worked with a file to fine tune it to the lower. I guess it is a proprietary problem since the AR10 platforms tend to be more fluid in their specs as far as rail height, magazine compatibility etc....Either way I like the feel of the grip and is a perfect size. I have large hands and fingers, and it is not too small, and has no excess grip to work with, my hand grips it perfectly and it sets back just enough to put finger/trigger placement right on. Would have been a 5 star with out the mod to make it fit. Took about an hour to get it just right.

This grip is outstanding! I initially acquired 2, and was going to give my two AR platform rifles (LaRue Stealth 5.56 and DPMS .300 Blackout) a test run before deciding on whether I'd acquire more. Well, I acquired 4 more, 2 for my other AR platforms, 1 for my Ruger Precision Rifle and another because my neighbor picked up one of my rifles and was taken back by the texture, comfort, and ergonomics of this grip. So, I did the neighborly gesture and bought one for his AR. I've also turned 2 of my coworkers onto this grip and they love it too. If LaRue were to make this grip compatible with AK''s, I'd get one too. Top notch product from a top notch company. When I have the chance to get LaRue products for my rifles, I do it.

This is without a doubt the most ergonomic ar15 grip on the market. Its thicker than a standard a2 and fills your hand very nicely. As someone else mentioned this grip in terms of its side profile is similar to what you find on an HK91 but the contours with the palm swell and contours are very similar to an HK P30/VP9. If you like the grip on those pistols you will love this grip. Extremely ergonomic with all the contours in the right places. Its night and day versus an A2. The rough texture is not too rough and does not tear up a bare hand. The quality of the molding is EXCELLENT with non existent mold lines. The grip went right on my Colt 6920 SOCOM with no modifications. It was pretty snug and a few taps with a soft faced hammer on the grip got it down nice and snug. There is absolutely no movement. Though La Rue provided a perfectly good hex bolt I reused the screw that came with my Colt. This grip is a great value and is definitely worth the money.

I purchased several of these a couple years ago and loved them. I put them on the rest of my AR's, including my entry weapon at work. I recently purchased (March 2016) two of them for a couple builds I was working on for other squad members and neither one fits any lower I have tried to install them on. The tail of the grip will have to be filed down considerably in order to fit the lowers. I do understand that with each AR/lower manufacturer comes "creative" licensing and "mil-spec" quotes for their designs, but something is off somewhere if the grips do not fit on 5 different lowers. I don't mind making the adjustments to the grips, just an FYI to those at LaRue. I feel like I'm punishing my child by giving a 3 review!!! I loved this grip on my AR so much I bought a second one for my 870 with a Mesa Tactical high mount stock. I have long fingers and the narrow A2 grip put the trigger right into the crease of my index finger. With the A-PEG, my finger rests naturally on the trigger. The "smooth" grip has more than enough texture for bare hands. If I had another firearm that used an AR pattern grip, I'd order another A-PEG.

I did have trouble fitting it to my Aero 308 lower. quite a bit of filing/dremel work was needed. Maybe the 556 model would work better on a Aero 308 build (the 308 grip has a higher rise at the back that the 556 model)? Overall, I would purchase again. If you are considering this grip, I recommend calling LaRue to ensure you get the right grip to fit your specific lower or asking for measurements.

This pistol grip really has it all. From the contour and grip angle and to the stippling, this is what you want in your trigger hand when you use your rifle. My hands are on the smaller side and I wanted a grip with palm swells that wouldn't distance my trigger finger too far from where it's meant to be. I found that with this little guy, and the ergonomics really outdo the MOE I used previously. The countour swells meld perfectly in my hand and the stippling makes me feel like I could dip my hand in axle grease and still have a firm grasp on this grip. Also it weighs next to nothing. The APEG is just about $21 shipped with this current special. Don't waste your money on anything else!

Like others have said: great product, fast shipping, and extra bonus goodies. I was looking to upgrade my Rock River factory grip and decided to look at LaRue rather than just ordering a rubber grip from Rock River. The palm swell fits my hand much better than the RRA grip did and instructions were included, which is always nice. I ordered the Rough texture and think that it is rough enough to serve its function but not uncomfortably rough. I have fairly small hands and have read many positive reviews from large handed individuals, so this grip seems to work pretty well for a wide variety of hand sizes too. I did not have trouble installing this grip on my RRA LAR-15. There does seem to be a very small gap at the back of the grip between the grip and the lower receiver, but I am not overly concerned about that because the grip is very securely fastened and does not wiggle or move. I was able to get this grip on sale and it's hard to beat for $14.

As soon as I felt this one fill my hand, I was almost positive that no other grip would equal, and I was correct. I bought another to use on a future build, and will probably get one to replace the Magpul on the other AR I have. The design is ambidextrous, and fills my left or right hand perfectly. I can't express how much I love this grip and the company that made it. Fits the hand well. I have huge palms, so I think I would prefer a bit more palm swell, but I don't care THAT much anyway. I put this on with a Magpul FCS, and the length of pull is a bit short with the angle on this grip, so if you're considering it, make sure that you're planning on something full length for your stock. By the way, I've put an extension on my stock, so it works great. Highly suggest buying this, especially since it's cheaper than most other stuff out there. Super great buy.

The A-PEG makes for a comfortable and positive grip in my hand, and is well made. The fit to the lower receiver (AR-15 version here) is nice and snug, and it's hard to beat the price. The despite the name, the 'smooth' version still has a nice grippy feel to the surface texture.

I gave it a four because I would like it a little bigger to fit my catcher mitt hands. It's shaped well though. The grip just doesn't have a natural enough feel in my hands to be perfect. I also have had this problem with a MIAD configured with the largest attachments so realize it's not a design flaw.

Love the fit and feel of this grip. If you have medium to large hands the ergonomics of this grip will fit your hand perfectly. Fits wonderfully on my Aero lower.(Need to snag an LT at the next sale.) Overall, I'd give the A-PEG 4 Dillos because on sale for $14 it's a steal. I enjoy the more rubberized feel of my Hogue and this is the reason I don't give it 5 Dillos. Great grip all around though, especially at sale price.

I just got my grip the other day, had to Drexel it a little to get it to fit my lower. This is the ONLY reason I give it 4 stars. Some novice builders might not be able to fit it, but the way I feel, if they can't grind a little plastic, they probably shouldn't own a gun in the first place!!! Item shipped quickly, came with s ton of extras, stickers, cataloges, and 3 copies of the Constitution!!! (Nice touch) they probably sent me more free stuff than they made off the grip! It's awesome to see an American company that still cares more about producing a quality product, and providing good customer service, a lot of "sell-out" companies could learn from Larue. The grip feels comfortable, durable, and is well worth the price. I tried it on 2 different lowers, and had to be internally ground to fit. This is the only issue I had, not really an issue to me, but might be discouraging to novice builders. I was so pleased with the purchase regardless, I will be trying more of Larue's products. I believe Larue just got a lifelong customer.

Tried just about all the grips on the market and by far the Larue is my choice. The grip sits on my 11.5 Noveske long gun and being a LEO you don't know which hand you'll need to have the rifle in but with the grip being ambi it's a no brainer for me. Fitment is tight as a bank vault and the ergo/ambi design is excellent. Really flows with your hand and I can hold my rifle comfortably with ease for long periods of time. Thanks to Laure Tactical for the best customer service hands down in the Industry along with their engineering dept. You earned a new customer for life guys.

Good news, bad news: The bad is that the grip wasn't a drop-in fit for either of two lower receivers I have. The beavertail on the grip was too tight and there was interference between it and the lower above and behind the flat mounting surfaces on the lower. A little Dremel applied to the grip to remove some material and I did get it to fit. The good news: The grip feels great in the hand! The shape, material, and texture finish all work very well for my application. One thing I particularly like about the shape is that it is a bit thicker fore-aft to where the web portion of your hand contacts the grip. The effect is a bit longer "length of pull" so it places the trigger finger such that the pad of the finger tip rests on the trigger instead of the crease at the knuckle. I got the smooth version and am pleased with the texture - just enough but not too much. I don't have experience with the rough texture but the smooth is plenty for me. Another grip I've used and really like is the Hogue overmolded rubber grip with a softer, rubber feel. The A-PEG is a hard plastic feel but feels great in the hand. One additional note... LaRue's customer service was excellent! I sent an email inquiring about the fit of the grip. I received a reply very quickly that offered a possible solution (basically use a mallet to pound it into place), and an included return form in the event I wanted to return or exchange the item. Unfortunately I don't think the mallet option would have worked - too much interference. I made the decision to modify the grip instead but the easy option to return was appreciated. Three stars due to the out-of-the-box fit issue...

Hard to tell the angle on this grip from the photos, but I figured I'd take a shot and see if I like it. Turns out it's very similar to an MOE grip, which is near perfect for me prone, so my wrist lies at a pretty comfortable angle with this grip installed. I got the smooth texture, still grippy and works great. Maybe for somebody a little more real, the rough would be preferable, but I shoot dirt and steel and paper. Grip also feels better in the hand than it looks, just about perfect to be honest. 5 dillos from me, I'm very happy with it, and my Grendel will be getting one as well when it gets built. Thanks Larue.

There is already an abundance of positive reviews and LRT always does a very thorough write up in the product descriptions however I was asked to review purchased products and I shall oblige. The fit is superb the two greatest attributes in my "shooter preference" is the much increased ease of manipulating the fire selector switch ambidextrously as well as the way this particular grip naturally offers my hand a higher purchase up the weapon allowing for a lower bore axis and far more "fluid" manner in which my finger flawlessly rest on the blade of the trigger. Reference info: installed on SanTan Tactical Ambi Lower with super dynamic 3 Gun trigger and Lmt CQB MRP upper, Xl sized hands yet my wife with very small hands appreciates the ergonomics so not only a flawless fit and finish but also versatility.

I bought the black, smooth finish, for the AR-15. The positive. Finish has the perfect amount of grip. Shape and width are hands down the best I've used (I have medium to large hands). Hads solid feel (I'm not a fan of Hogue style grips) The neutral. Fit the receiver extremely tight, required fair amount of force to get on. The negative. The finish of the product was subpar, the black plastic is cloudy and has a cheap look that reminds me of the old tapco stock I had for an sks. This is strictly a cosmetic issue and doesn't take away from the functionality of the grip. Never the less its mildly disappointing and the reason I knocked it down to 4 out 5.

I have a number of AR rifles and each one has a different pistol grip. The latest (an AR .308 build) has the Larue grip. This grip is much more comfortable than any of the other grips I have. I think this is due primarily to the flat back strap and the fact that it is wider at the bottom than at the top (not a lot but it makes my hand feel more secure on the grip). I don't know yet if I'm going to go to the trouble of changing my other pistol grips over but I do know that future builds will utilize this grip.

Not much that hasn't already been said ... A well-contoured, good-feeling grip that lends control to the rifle's handling. Far more hand-filling than GI AR grips, but not so big that my stubby fingers couldn't easily grasp the grip and reach the trigger. The "rough" texture is a very good surface, but be aware that's it's a harder material, similar to the GI grips -- this isn't a soft, "rubber"-coated piece. I got the "AR10" version, and it fit perfectly on a DPMS-style .308 lower. And, the foliage color matched my Magpul PRS buttstock, if that's important to you. They must have nailed this one, 'cause it does everything it's supposed to do, and I can't think of a single improvement to suggest.

Provides great support for your hand to fill it and keep easy repeatable hand placement for correct trigger finger placement. I went with the rough option, and it's just as textured as I want without being too abrasive. The mounting screw is a well received hex head, and the fitment is tight, certainly wiggle it on to check it out, then it should fully seat well while you slowly torque the screw down. I'm very impressed as i've tried many options, and this is going on all my rifles now.

Until now, the Ergo Grip was the only AR grip that fit my hand well. I just received my LaRue A-PEG grip and could not be happier. The grip fits my hand great. The palm swells are in the correct position and fill my hand just right. I get a strong, comfortable grip that allows me to have proper finger placement on the trigger. The coarse texture provides a solid grasp without being too abrasive or rough on your hands. It's just the right amount of texture for sweaty palms or rainy shooting conditions. Once again, LaRue hit a home-run with this grip.
