LaRue Tactical PredatOBR 7.62

View Individual State Variances

The PredatOBR 7.62 was designed for those who are searching for a hybrid cross between the standard OBR and PredatAR 7.62x51 Rifles. The most remarkable feature of the PredatOBR is its ability to be completely “broken down” and stored into the optional Rollup Bag and Toolbox. The PredatOBR handguard has a locking stainless steel QD Lever system on each side. Once the levers are released, the handguard slides off of the upper assembly in seconds. The PredatOBR's barrel can easily be removed with the supplied PredatOBR Barrel Wrench, unscrew the Barrel Nut from Receiver and pull the Barrel Assembly free from Receiver. No need to remove the gas tube, gas block or muzzle device. Reverse the process to reinstall. Hand-tighten Barrel Nut and torque approximately 1/8-turn past hand-tight (Approximately 40-50 foot pounds). Once reassembled correctly, the point of impact (POI) shift will be 0.0 to 0.5 MOA of the original.

PredatOBR barrels are chambered in 7.62x51mm, and feature rifling in a 1/10 twist rate. All barrels are threaded in 5/8 x 24. Like the OBR and PredatAR riles, LaRue has eliminated the conventional AR barrel nut and bolt the handguard directly to the proprietary upper receiver, creating a true “free-float” barrel. The handguard does not touch the barrel or barrel nut at any place. The zero-MOA upper rail provides plenty of room for weapon-mounted night-vision day/night combinations. Both the upper and lower are CNC-machined from billet aluminum for the optimum fit and consistency. Even though it has been lightened certain features, there is still additional material in strategic areas to achieve maximum accuracy.

The PredatOBR has threaded stainless-steel hard-points over the entire length of the handguard at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. These hard-points have an integral spine built-in for structural support. Provided with the system are three 3-inch MIL-STD-1913 rail sections that can be positioned anywhere along the handguard, per operator preference. These rail sections are attachable/detachable using a supplied tool (Torx® T-15 wrench). The rail sections are CNC-machined from billet aluminum. This robust solution provides a perfect precision mounting space for aiming lasers, illumination and bipods.

The PredatOBR's Port Selector Technology™ (PST) gas block is adjustable, to aid in the optimum function when using a sound suppressor. This special gas block contains a dual port mechanism that is operated by rotating a lever from one side to another. When the lever is rotated to the right-side of the rifle, the gasses are reduced, to compensate for the extra blowback created by the suppressor. When rotated to the left side, the gasses are increased for use without a suppressor.

The LaRue Tactical 6-position Retract Action Trigger (R.A.T.) Stock comes standard with every PredatOBR. It is ergonomic, has protected control surfaces and contains a set of cleaning rods in an internal compartment. Since the height of the 12 o’clock rail is at the optimum position, there is no need for a cheek riser as part of this system.

About LaRue Firearm Accuracy:
LaRue accuracy is known world-wide. The accuracy of each LaRue Rifle is proven at our 100-yard tunnel using match-grade ammunition. No LaRue firearm can leave the facility unless it obtains accuracy of less-than 1 MOA (1.047”) at 100 Yards. Each firearm ships with a copy of a 3-round group obtained from that actual firearm. While we guarantee the rifle is capable of sub-MOA accuracy, we can not guarantee the end-user will be able to shoot sub-MOA…since we have no control over shooting proficiency, familiarity with the system, ammunition choice, environmental factors, etc. LaRue firearms are precision instruments that require discipline, training, proper ammunition and maintenance to yield the best results.

PredatOBR is a registered trademark.

This is my first LT rifle. You can only read so much and you have to make a decision on which way to go. I've had tremendous luck with their other products over the past few years, so I figured I'd see what the rifles would do. I have a 2.5-10x32 NF mildot scope in a LT 104 mount. I shot 168 SMK FGMM ammo thru up to 300 yards. I still can't stop smiling or telling everyone about it. Bolt gun accuracy for sure and a lot of innovative ideas throughout the rifle. I swapped out the muzzle device to a Templar QD muzzle brake and noticed how clean the threads were done. Excellent quality and attention to detail and love the MBT trigger. I'm going to upgrade to the medium powered US Optics scope soon and next weekend I'll have time to go out 500 yards with Black Hills ammo which I think will be even more impressive. With the way this is shooting, my plans on building my next bolt rifle are losing priority. I have emailed a few questions in and everytime I recieved my response very quickly. It's the whole package, service and quality products. I will be buying another rifle. Thanks guys.

This rifle is remarkable. I am able to shoot sub MOA with a 6x scope with ease. The accuracy, fit, and finish of this rifle is outstanding. I'm a Larue customer for life.

Awesome! way beyond my ability. Fit and finish fantastic, Mounted scope and it was on paper with first shot, two shots later in center. Then doing three taps within 1 MOA at 100 yards, will be moving out to longer distances. Be holding on to this rifle for a long time. Service was great!

I own a few other high-end .308 semi-automatic rifles like 20" 5R LMT MWS. The 20" PredatOBR is my first LaRue Tactical rifle. I chose this rifle for several reasons like build quality, advertised accuracy and suppressor readiness straight out of the box. I liked the design philosophy behind this rifle which I think is light weight where possible but relatively heavy barrel and extra material where the most benefit would be realized. Despite the statement that the barrel requires no break-in, I did perform a short break-in by firing and cleaning for 15 rounds. The first shots for grouping after the break-in at 100 yards were well under 1 MOA, the worst at .86 using a NF NXS 5.5-22x50 scope and hand loads that are similar to FGMM 168 grain SMKs. They were LC13 brass, SMK 168 grain bullets, 42.8 grains of 4064 loaded to 2.81 COAL with Federal 210 primers all shot from prone with a bipod and an AAC 762-SDN-6 suppressor. While using the suppressor and the port selector set on suppressed, the recoil impulse was smooth and predictable. There was no slamming of the buffer into the back of the receiver extension or overly forceful back into battery movement. My round count is still under 50 not counting the break-in shots but I can already tell that this rifle is a shooter. If I were to say anything negative about the system, I'd say that the trigger is very good but not great. I have ordered an upgrade and look forward to getting that installed and adjusted. Perhaps it is just what I am used to and others would think the MBT trigger is perfect. I will use the rifle for long range target shooting, 400-900 yards, and I could easily see using it for deer hunting up here in north Georgia. Just need to see how well I can make the Berger Classic Hunters work in it. For a rifle advertised to be less than 1 moa, I know that I am happy with what I have seen so far and expect that accuracy will improve over the next 300-400 rounds. If you are thinking about one of these rifles and hope to achieve .6 or .7 moa with it, my experience so far indicates that is easily within the rifle's capability.

Super product. I own a number of AR style rifles made by various manufacturers. The LaRue Tactical PredatOBR 7.62 that I recently purchased easily tops them all in quality of workmanship and accuracy.

This rifle is worth the wait! I took it to the Whitington Center and after a quick sight in with a Leupold Mark 6, I tried it at the Long Range steel. Hit each of the targets to 500 yds first round, then center shot at 1100. Can't say enough about the performance.

My wife ordered this rifle for me as a Christmas gift. The advertised delivery time was 12 weeks at the time of the order....that date would have put the rifle arriving in sometime in Feb. LT had the rifle shipped to my FFL before Christmas. I can't say enough about the the LT organization and their dedication to customer service. The rifle is beyond what I could have hoped for. Amazing build quality...easily shoots 2" groups @ 200 yds. Mounted a Vortex Optics PST 2.5-10 in a 2" cantilever mount. Haven't had the barrel off to test the accuracy after tear down and reassembly, but I really don't foresee any issues with the way this thing is built. Love the 20" barrel for rest/bench shooting, will order the 16.1 inch barrel to give me a little more operational flexibility. This is my first LT product and I am now a huge fan of the LT organization.

This is my first LT rifle. I have heard about how great they are so I had to get one for myself. I ordered mine and it took one week to receive the rifle at my ffl. It took another ten days before I got it for the waiting period. But it's absolutely fabulous. I can't wait to get to the range to have some fun. Lt's customer service is outstanding. I give props to everyone working there.
