LaRue Tactical PredatOBR 7.62

View Individual State Variances

The PredatOBR 7.62 was designed for those who are searching for a hybrid cross between the standard OBR and PredatAR 7.62x51 Rifles. The most remarkable feature of the PredatOBR is its ability to be completely “broken down” and stored into the optional Rollup Bag and Toolbox. The PredatOBR handguard has a locking stainless steel QD Lever system on each side. Once the levers are released, the handguard slides off of the upper assembly in seconds. The PredatOBR's barrel can easily be removed with the supplied PredatOBR Barrel Wrench, unscrew the Barrel Nut from Receiver and pull the Barrel Assembly free from Receiver. No need to remove the gas tube, gas block or muzzle device. Reverse the process to reinstall. Hand-tighten Barrel Nut and torque approximately 1/8-turn past hand-tight (Approximately 40-50 foot pounds). Once reassembled correctly, the point of impact (POI) shift will be 0.0 to 0.5 MOA of the original.

PredatOBR barrels are chambered in 7.62x51mm, and feature rifling in a 1/10 twist rate. All barrels are threaded in 5/8 x 24. Like the OBR and PredatAR riles, LaRue has eliminated the conventional AR barrel nut and bolt the handguard directly to the proprietary upper receiver, creating a true “free-float” barrel. The handguard does not touch the barrel or barrel nut at any place. The zero-MOA upper rail provides plenty of room for weapon-mounted night-vision day/night combinations. Both the upper and lower are CNC-machined from billet aluminum for the optimum fit and consistency. Even though it has been lightened certain features, there is still additional material in strategic areas to achieve maximum accuracy.

The PredatOBR has threaded stainless-steel hard-points over the entire length of the handguard at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. These hard-points have an integral spine built-in for structural support. Provided with the system are three 3-inch MIL-STD-1913 rail sections that can be positioned anywhere along the handguard, per operator preference. These rail sections are attachable/detachable using a supplied tool (Torx® T-15 wrench). The rail sections are CNC-machined from billet aluminum. This robust solution provides a perfect precision mounting space for aiming lasers, illumination and bipods.

The PredatOBR's Port Selector Technology™ (PST) gas block is adjustable, to aid in the optimum function when using a sound suppressor. This special gas block contains a dual port mechanism that is operated by rotating a lever from one side to another. When the lever is rotated to the right-side of the rifle, the gasses are reduced, to compensate for the extra blowback created by the suppressor. When rotated to the left side, the gasses are increased for use without a suppressor.

The LaRue Tactical 6-position Retract Action Trigger (R.A.T.) Stock comes standard with every PredatOBR. It is ergonomic, has protected control surfaces and contains a set of cleaning rods in an internal compartment. Since the height of the 12 o’clock rail is at the optimum position, there is no need for a cheek riser as part of this system.

About LaRue Firearm Accuracy:
LaRue accuracy is known world-wide. The accuracy of each LaRue Rifle is proven at our 100-yard tunnel using match-grade ammunition. No LaRue firearm can leave the facility unless it obtains accuracy of less-than 1 MOA (1.047”) at 100 Yards. Each firearm ships with a copy of a 3-round group obtained from that actual firearm. While we guarantee the rifle is capable of sub-MOA accuracy, we can not guarantee the end-user will be able to shoot sub-MOA…since we have no control over shooting proficiency, familiarity with the system, ammunition choice, environmental factors, etc. LaRue firearms are precision instruments that require discipline, training, proper ammunition and maintenance to yield the best results.

PredatOBR is a registered trademark.

Having read so many good things about the Larue OBR and PredatAR rifles I had to see for myself so I got in line and waited. Then the PredatOBR was introduced and the more I read about it the more I decided it was the right rifle for me. I canceled my PredatAR order after nearly a year in line and ordered the PredatOBR 7.62. To my GREAT surprise when I called to confirm the correct payment was in place I was told it would be shipping right away! Took it to the range and it shoots amazing! Test target was .408 MOA and I have achieved and bested this group many times. Scary accurate for a gas gun with lots of firepower. Larue customer service was and is top notch and I appreciate all the little extras they pass along. I know the wait for these has been grueling but it is WELL worth it folks, hang in there and reap the reward for the best precision rifle money can buy. Thanks Larue for building top notch products, never had a bad Larue product but I'm sure they would take care of it if I did as their customer service is second to none.

I received my new TOBR 762 about three months ago. After shooting a couple of carbine matches, some long range shooting to 800 yards while testing repeatability after breaking it down and reassembling I'm simply amazed at it's performance. The quality and performance is outstanding! Fit and finish is superb! NO BS, better than some custom built bolt rifles I've spent two or three times as much on. My bolt guns are history. This rifle is an incredible value and is without a doubt the BEST rifle purchase I've made! Thanks team LaRue!!!

Ordered the rifle Friday and the next Friday it was sitting at my FFL transfer dealer. Took it out last weekend and what a great gun. High quality and great trigger. If you are getting a 7.62 rifle just save a little longer and get the LaRue, you will not be disappointed. Also, when I picked it up the whole store wanted to check it out. It was like the holy grail, very nice weapon.

Waiting period was minimal ordered in late sept, and received just after the new year. Looks of the rifle are a 10/10. Initial impressions: It looks really cool, sleek finish, feels amazing. Great grip, feels balanced and sturdy, trigger breaks clean, and is larger surface area than I am used to. Slapped a Harris Bipod on it and a Horus Hunter 3-12x50 on it. Took awhile for me to get it out to the range, finally zeroed, damn near key holed my zero group at 100 yards. Started shooting 6" clays with ease at 200, 250, 280 yards with consistency. Ran flawlessly. Used Federalgold match .308 168 grain. Next time I stretched out to 300, 460, 590ish, and 764 yards (longest shot) that day, hitting 19"x35" metal targets. Had problems with scope that day i.e. Had to re zero, adjustments were'nt correlating as scope was over and under adjusting, big mess, finally got a ok zero not for precision shooting anyway. Point is I was still making shots well enough to hit e type target consistently. Investing in better scope to go for longer shots at smaller targets next go round. I have not broken down the rifle completely as advertised, so I can't attest to ease or re zero capability in that regard. Likes: Overall the rifle cycles smoothly, flawlessly, and shoots great. Still adjusting to feel of MBT trigger, but pretty good overall. I am satisfied with my choice and purchase of this rifle, hell if I were capable of emotion I would say I was happy with it. Overall 9.9/10 Dislikes: RAT stock, it isn't horrible and it is sturdy and functional, however for me it leaves something to be desired. Hence the 1/10th point deduction.

The upper and lower are machined so tight I was amazed, no tension screws or accuwedge required. Accuracy is phenomenal, averages .5 MOA with match ammo. Bolt and carrier are super slick and smooth, just as smooth as my precision JP 300 dollar carrier. Broke it down, reassembled, shot for several cycles. This rifles holds a zero. Awesome.

There is simply nothing else like this rifle anywhere on the market. Besides being one sexy rifle, the machining puts most every other manufacturer to shame. The fit between the upper and lower is so tight that I have to break the halves apart over my knee. Needless to say, there is zero slop between them. Once I finally got her zeroed, she shoots sub-MOA all day long, and when I'm having a good day, .5 inch groups and under are common. This rifle has run everything I have put through it, both suppressed and un-suppressed, which shouldn't be a surprise because of the excellent port selection switch on the gas block. She is a great addition to my PredatAR 5.56 and I look forward to many years of enjoying this rifle.

Okay....I have a few LaRue rifles. It all started with a 16'' 308 OBR. Out of the box. I sighted it in with a LaRue mounted 5x25 S&B and had zero in 3 shots. Shot a 5 shot group about..430 for the very first go. Did a scope remove/reinstall 5 times firing a shot each time was installed and it posted right at half MOA I sent my initial test to Mark and he posted it somewhere back then. So that was the first 13 shots out of the beast. I have shot this rifle in 3 gun heavy metal class for about 4 years without a single hiccup and it's still today a tack driver. Meanwhile back at Larue.... Mark shows me the PredatOBR at show Show. Ordered two (5.56,7.62) that night. Time delays we all had them ...year plus. Anyway it was worth the wait !! Box arrives and I had scope already setup for it. area P.D.sniper team calls and says are you coming out to the range? Be there shortly. So upon arrival greetings, etc. Hey aren't you guys interested in my shiny new tool box? Finally ...ok what's in the box? Rolled it out and put it together. WOW that's awesome they replied. How does it shoot?? I'm fix'n to find out. A few shots for zero and... damn another under 1/2 MOA 7.62. Test target looked nothing like what I just shot (allot larger and had me concerned). Went downrange and they said "well that's about half of our group size" shooting an expensive XYZ AR platform duty rifle. So back on line I said let's try this. Shoot one round and completely disassemble / reassemble and shoot one each reassembly for 5 shots. They said we want to watch this. The 5 shot group with factory ammo was about .540 as close as I could measure. Needless to say they were extremely impressed. I was too.... but I really expected that kind of result form LaRue DG in AZ Do I believe in LaRue ? Absolutely !! No Body can have just one !!!

The first time I fired this rifle, I put ten shots inside of a 2” circle at 100 yards. That seemed to me like a pretty good way to get to know a new gun, so I moved to 300 yards, put a little more focus into my efforts, and shot within a 3” group. The only rifle in my safe that compares to this is my LaRue OBR, which is a 12” 5.56 model. No one compares to LaRue. And, I love the way this rifle takes down to fit in the toolbox. I don’t see myself ever really needing that option, but it is just cool. Another home run for LaRue.

Used 6 rounds to zero the rifle at 100 yards, then shot a sub 1/2" group with 168 grain FGMM. Attached my suppressor to the rifle and started to have fun. From the first touch at the LGS when I picked it up, to the range, and first cleaning, I have been impressed with the quality and feel of this rifle. I knew after seeing the target from LaRue that this rifle could shoot in the right hands. If you are on the fence thinking about it, just buy once and cry once... and plan your next rifle purchase. Once you own one, you will want another!

Thank you LaRue for the rifle you built me. I've been an avid hunter my entire life and haven't always had the best of equipment to hunt with like most hunters i knew when i was young. Hitting the middle of the paper target was completely acceptable in those days. 2 years ago I sent my 15yr old son to a private instructor to learn as much as possible about how to correctly shoot rifles from all positions and distances and to find out what equipment is best suited for each shooting experience. During that time his instructor and i were visiting and i asked him what was the best, most accurate all-around rifle manufacturer on the market and he referred me to LaRue, hands down. That night i when home and place an order for a PreditOBR .308. Once it was delivered, i understood why he referred me. The fit and finish was second to any rifle i've ever owned. I currently have a NightForce 15.5 0-stop optic with NightForce rings and a Gemtech suppressor on the end. I consistently am able to shoot 3 shot groups at 100yds @ less than .5in., even using cheap PPU Match ammo. Thank you again LaRue for crafting such a well made firearm. ps. I'm currently awaiting the arrival of my new Tranquilo suppressor that i ordered in October 2015. i hope its worth the wait?

I have been dreaming of owning a Larue rifle for a long time. I was not quite ready to purchase one but I live in California for now and some new, lame laws which come into effect next year, forced my hand. I went ahead and ordered the tOBR 7.62 with the 16"barrel. With the wait time they quoted me, I was not sure I would get the rifle in time. Thankfully Larue got the rifle to me surprisingly quick. I have been issued, used and owned several other 5.56 AR style rifles. I could not be more impressed than with my new Larue rifle! The fit is great and it functions so smoothly. Some of my friends who use other high end AR's were impressed by how well the rifle was engineered and how smooth the rifle functioned. I need to save up money for a quality optic now. For now, I just have an old Elcan on it which does nothing to show it's accuracy potential. My biggest disappointment is I do not have the time to pick up another one before the end of the year. I should have bought two. The wife is eyeballing this one!

I picked up my 7.62x51 LaRue Predatobr in late August and of course the moment it arrived at my FFL dealer, rifle envy ensued. Small gun shops get all bent out of shape when they see how nice the rifle is, and after they see the test target. After a couple of range trips, I can surely say that the folks at LaRue Tactical made me another world class weapon. The fit and finish is top notch! Not quite as tightly fit as my 5.56 Predatobr, but still has zero slop between the upper and lower. This gun is scary accurate! The test group that came with the rifle was less than a half inch. I honestly had my doubts about beating it. On the second range trip I dialed in my Mark 4 6.5x20x50mm with Federal Gold Match ammo. I destroyed the test target!! I was looking in and out of the scope to see if I hit the target. The rounds were going through the same hole! The MBT trigger has a crisp break. I cant say enough good things about this rifle. Don't be intimidated by the price. There are many companies that charge more than LaRue does for a rifle like this. The difference is with LaRue Tactical is you get what you pay for and then some. I have never seen another gun company that will offer a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the gun. But with LaRue its no surprise because the quality and craftsmanship is superb. Anyone with a eye for quality will immediately become a fan of LaRue when they put one of their rifles in their hands. Last thing to say is a HUGE THANK YOU!! God Bless America and the fine folks at LaRue Tactical.

Spent over 5 hours at the range with my two LaRue rifles this weekend. The tOBR 7.62 16.1" is a beast and out performed my expectations. I added a NightForce NXS F1 and just after a 200 yard sight in, I was ringing a 1.5' X 1.5' steel target at 500 yards without missing. With Larue comes precision. My friends did not understand why I spend the money I do on Larue rifles until our teambuilding range day this weekend. They could not hit the 500 yard mark with their box store rifles to save their lives. Now for my next purchase... Siete! I only wish I could get in in .338 Lapua though.

I shot it side by side with other members on our SWAT/Sniper team who were shooting Accuracy International bolt guns and was shooting the same size groups and better if I did my part. The rifle impressed the brass so much now we're looking to purchase 2 OBR's or PredatOBR's for the team. Great rifle that bridges the gap between battle rifle and precision rifle!
